1 week ago 11

YouTube TV is one of the top streaming services out there that lets you enjoy live and on-demand television content. Fortunately, you can stream YouTube TV on your Android and iOS devices through an app no matter where you are. However, there was a caveat with the Android and iOS YouTube TV apps, they didn’t support the background play feature. But, that’s now a thing from the past.

YouTube TV on Android and iOS is getting the background play feature

YouTube TV has reportedly started rolling out the background play feature on Android and iOS. YouTube’s background play feature was quite popular among users as it allowed them to lock the device or leave the app and continue listening to the video they were watching.

Fast forward to today, the background play feature is only available with a YouTube Premium subscription. Since YouTube TV is a premium subscription, most people were amazed about the absence of the feature on Android and iOS. But, that’s not the case anymore.

Today, folks over at 9to5Google reported that they spotted multiple Reddit posts mentioning the availability of the background play feature on YouTube TV Android and iOS apps. If you are using the latest version of YouTube TV, you should be able to use the feature. If not, wait for the YouTube TV’s app update.

iOS users are slowly getting the feature

The publication also reported to have successfully tested the availability of the feature on the YouTube TV app for Android. However, the feature was not available immediately on their iOS devices even though some Reddit posts report the opposite.

If we consider the comments on the posts, the background play on the YouTube TV iOS app is gradually rolling out. So, we expect the feature to be available on your iOS devices in the coming weeks.
